4   ‘Hogs for the Cause’  –  Hate Cancer but love BBQ, music and cold beverages with friends?  ‘Hogs for the Cause’ is the premier fundraising source for providing aid and relief of those economic burdens which families face while their child is being treated for pediatric brain cancer.  The Cause is partnered with several hospitals nationally, including our own MUSC Children’s Hospital   –   WEBSITE

5   Latin American Festival  –  Feel the heat and celebrate the sights and sounds of the Latino world.  Live Salsa and Meringue music will fill the air as families enjoy authentic food, craft items, kids’ activities, and much more   –   WEBSITE

10-12   That BIG Book Sale  –  The non-profit Charleston Friends of the Library will have over 60,000 books, DVDs, CDs, books on CDs, sheet music and maps on sale to the public with prices starting at just $.50   –   WEBSITE

12   8th Annual Lowcountry Wine & Beer Festival  –  Savor bits, bites and small plates of Lowcountry cuisine and cleanse the palate with unique wines and craft beers.  Then enjoy some soulful music and take part in an extensive silent auction.  Proceeds benefit the Barrier Islands Free Medical Clinic   –   WEBSITE

14   Curator Lecture Series: Unnatural Disasters  –  Our planet is an ever-changing complex system.  Matthew Gibson, Natural History Curator at The Charleston Museum, will discuss the impact of pollution, human population growth, habitat disruption, and the introduction of non-native species on our environment and its local impacts   –   WEBSITE

15   Ringo Starr and His All Starr Band  –  The former Beatle, GRAMMY Award-winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee performs with his All Starr Band for one night only at The North Charleston Performing Arts Center   –   WEBSITE

19  Bark In The Park! Oktoberfest  – Pets are encouraged to bring their owners to one of Charleston’s biggest Oktoberfest celebrations.  The costume-friendly event offers pet exhibits, demonstrations, experts, entertainment, and more.  Owners will also get a taste of Bavaria with live Oompah music, tasty German food and plenty of beer   –   WEBSITE

23   Marsalis “Well-Tempered”  –  Grammy Award-winning saxophonist and Tony Award-nominated composer Bradford Marsalis joins the celebrated Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia to perform Baroque masterpieces by Albinoni, Back, Handel, Vivaldi and others   –   WEBSITE

26   Annual Family Picnic at the Dill Plantation  –  The entire family will enjoy a nature walk, live music, a Lowcountry dinner, children’s games, hayrides and demonstrations by Birds of Prey and the SCDNR Touch Tank.  Hosted by the Friends and Needed Supporters (FANS) of The Charleston Museum   –   WEBSITE

26   Komen Lowcountry Swing for the Cure  –  This special Susan G. Komen fundraiser supports the fight against breast cancer.  Participants can choose to play in either a team tennis event or an 18-hole scramble golf tournament, followed by a cocktail reception which will include a silent auction   –   WEBSITE
