Every Mon. Wed., Thurs., Fri. Historic Downtown Charleston Culinary Tour – This 2.5-hour tour explores the heart of historic Charleston, focusing on the area around the Old City Market. 6 Light the Night Walk – Walkers carry illuminated balloons – white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s ‘Light the Night Walk’ funds treatments that are saving the lives of patients today   –   WEBSITE

8 2014 Lowcountry Blues Club Blues Challenge – This annual event will select one or more local bands to represent the Lowcountry at the International Blues Challenge (IBC) held in Memphis, Tennessee in January. In addition, there will be a special performance by The Muddy Kings, a talented group of young musicians who will compete in the Youth Showcase portion of the IBC   –   WEBSITE

8 Battle of the Bag’s Cornhole Tournament – Sign up to participate (all proceeds from registrations will go directly to the Folly Beach Turtle Watch Program) or simply come out to cheer on the competitors. 8 Vietnam Experience Grand Opening – Come to opening day of a new Vietnam Experience exhibit at Patriots Point Naval & Maritime Museum. This “living history” features a U.S. Marine Corps Artillery Firebase and a “Brown Water Navy” Support Base. Interactive equipment includes helicopters, a Willys ambulance, a 105mm Howitzer, and a very rare MK1 PBR (Patrol River Boat). 9 Charleston Cup Steeplechase – You don’t have to be a “horse person” to enjoy all the Charleston Cup has to offer. Start with the elegant black-tie Race Ball with live music and fabulous food. 14 Romantic Garden Design at Home – Hugh and Mary Palmer Dargan, award-winning landscape architects, will lecture and share tips on how to design a romantic landscape for a home garden when they visit Magnolia Plantation and Gardens, America’s last large-scale romantic-style garden. 14-15 3rd Annual “Smoke on the Harbor BBQ Throwdown” – This State Championship will feature two days of barbecue competition, a fully sanctioned national event with the Kansas City Barbecue Society (KCBS). 18 All is Calm: The Christmas Truce of 1914 – Choral group Cantus partners with Theatre Latte Da for the story of an astounding moment in history when Allied and German soldiers laid down their arms to celebrate the holiday together. 22 “Digging” the Aiken-Rhett House: Hands on Archaeology – Become an archaeologist for a day! Museum staff will share the stories behind a trunk full of archaeological fragments. Children will have the opportunity to handle each piece as they learn about early life in Charleston and how an archaeological dig works. 22 St. Jude Give Thanks. Walk. – Join St. Jude supporters in the Charleston community and in more than 65 cities nationwide to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. In a single day we will come together to help St. Jude change the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer. Registration for this family-friendly event is free. 27 Turkey Day Run & Gobble Wobble 5K – The annual Turkey Day Run & Gobble Wobble is a holiday tradition for Charleston natives and travelers alike, and provides plenty of fun for the entire family.
